Introduction: Takayasu arteritis is a vasculitis of the large blood vessels . It is most commonly seen in young adults with a preponderance in women over men (10:1). It has a worldwide occurrence but is most often seen in the Asian region.

Patients with Takayasu arteritis will have different presentations of the disease, but involves mainly the aorta and its major branches, with involvement of the other organ systems, particularly the heart and kidneys. Most of the patients will complain of claudication, while the physician will most commonly appreciate pulse and blood pressure abnormalities as well as hypertension and bruits. Diagnostics ( MRI, angiogram) will show aneurysms and/or stenosis of the involved blood vessels.

Method: This is a cross sectional study which will involve all patients diagnosed with Takayasu arteritis seen at the Philippine Heart Center from June 2012.
