"Fast-track" cardiac anesthesia among patients scheduled for coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) at Philippine Heart Center for Asia: A randomized, double blind, comparative study.

"Fast-track" cardiac anesthesia is a new paradigm in postoperative care and a challenge for anesthesiologists is to participate in the clinical pathway development and implementation of this technique.

Early tracheal extubation is an important component of the Fast-track cardiac surgery pathway, Cheng et.al1 reported that early tracheal extubation anesthesia is safe, cost beneficial and can improve resource used in cardiac surgery. The aim of this randomize, prospective study is to determine and compare the time to tracheal extubation and associated factors, such as length of recovery room stay, length of ventilator stay, and what contributed to this fast-track cardiac anesthesia technique versus the Conventional technique among patients undergoing CABG at the Philippine Heart Center for Asia.
